Who is this fabulous actress ?

That's an exact quote from the first time I saw her in the "Star Trek - The Next Generation" episode called 'Ensign Ro Laren'. In all the few TNG episodes I'd seen 'till then everything was nice, comfortable and chummy. Thenshe walked of the transporter pad. It only took 5 seconds untill she had violated some regulation. At first I thought I liked the character alot, but the more I see of this woman the more I like her. But her character, Ro Laren, is by far my favourite ST character.

One of the more weird things about this woman is her birthday.
At first I thought it was 17th February, because that was what it said everywhere I looked.
But now I know better. Two people, claiming they know this fabolous woman, have said it's actually 8th January. Regarding the year... well, I'm a gentleman so I chose not to reveal that.
She was born in Austin, Texas. During her teens she moved to NY to star in a daytime drama called "The Guiding Light", but later moved to L.A. Her first appearence in TNG was actually as Dara, daughter of Dr. Timicin in "Half a Life", but after impressing The Powers That Be she was asked to do another role, as Ensign Ro. She accepted(obviously) and made such a good job of it that the character became one of the most popular character, and thus the character was brought on the show again and again. During '92 she was asked to sign up for the new ST show, DS9, but because she didn't want to commit herself to a 6 year project she declined. In the TNG episode "Preemptive Strike" the character did another 180 and joined the Maquis. And when the next ST series, Voyager, was in the plans she was asked again to be the Maquis captain, but again declined :(.
Instead of doing TV she wanted to go in for movies, and landed a role in "Kalifornia", co-starring David Duchovny (before X-Files), Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis. And to date, that is her best movie. SEE IT!
She was playing the Chief Medical Examiner Julianna Cox of the Baltimore PD on the NBC show "Homicide: Life on the Street", but was written out of the show. After that she appeared on the show "Wonderland" (which was cancelled). And this year she's coming out in two movies, "Perfume", and "Bullfighter". You can also catch her guest starring on a CBS show called "The District", playing assistant D.A 'Helen York'.
She also learned sign language in order to play the wife in the drama "Messiah".
