Voyager springer på en nebulosa som avger rejält farligt radioaktiv strålning som är farligt för alla på Voyager. Utom Doc och 7.
Så alla, utom dessa två, går in i kuvöser för att överleva resan. Men 7 har svårt att klara att vara så pass isolerad, då hon en gång
var länkad till flera tusen andra, och nu helt plötsligt bara har Doc som sällskap. Helt plötsligt börjar datorn rapportera att hela engineering håller på går åt helvete, men när 7 kommer dit ser hon inget speciellt. Det är några gel-packs som inte fungerar. Och ganska
snart pajar Docs mobila emitter. Kvar är då 7.
Ena systemet efter det andra börjar braka ihop och det blir riktigt illa när det bara är 6 dagar kvar.
Då börjar 7 hallucinera. Då springer Voyager på ett skepp som är ute efter lite utrsutning, och för det får hon flytande helium. Han är
väldigt pratglad och gör 7 nervös som sjutton. När hon försöker eskortera honom av Voyager lyckas han fly. 7 och Doc, försöker hitta
honom men misslyckas. Så 7 ger sig av med ett phaser gevär för att hitta och skjuta fanskapet, men hon börjar hallucinera mer och mer och börjar tom bli lite skraj. Dom konfronterar varandra i engineering där hon försöker skjuta honom men kan inte. Killen har oxå en ovanlig
begåvning att ställa en perfekt psykoanalys av 7. Doc har lyckats få igång sin emitter och beger sig till engineering där han finner 7
snacka med... ingen. Hon har bara fantiserat upp alltihopa.
Men tillslut brinner Docs emitter och nu är 7 ensammen igen, men något panikslagen nu när hon vet att hon hallucinerar till höger och
vänter. Nu är det bara 17 timmar kvar. Nu när hon är ute och går börjar allting, tom korridorerna påminna henne om Borg kollektivet.
Och då börjar motorerna krångla. Nu börjar hon hallucinera riktigt illa, och hon tvingas omdirigera energi från 10 stycken kuvöser för
att hålla igång Voyager. Men då dom dör tio.
Då stänger hon av lifesupport systemet till hela skeppet och diregerar om energin till kuvöserna. Hon förlorar medvetandet ganska fort i
brist på syre. När dom kommer ur nebulosan kommer Docs program igång, han hittar henne livlös och tar henne till sickbay och återuppväcker alla andra.
Slutet gott, allting gott.

Kenneth Biller, regissör:
"Seven ends up basically alone on the ship, and has to contend with her fear of isolation. As a Borg drone, she was used to hearing lots
of voices in her head, and the constant companionship of the collective consciousness. We learn in this episode that one of her
fears is a fear of being alone and being isolated. She has to battle a descent into madness to save the ship and save the crew. It was a
really good episode to direct and because it had some fantasy sequences, and some scary, atmospharic stuff. Jeri Ryan was great to
work with. It was basically her, all day, every day, for seven days, grueling hours. She was very present and very there the whole time.
THis was a very difficult show emotionally for her, where she has to slowly come unraveled. THere were moments when we had to make a
decision about exactly how vulnerable she was going to be and how much fear she would show. There were times when maybe she wanted to go a little further than I did, and I would have to remind her that we still have to give ourselves someplace to go, so that you don't reach your most unraveled state until the end of the picture. There are significant portions of the episode that don't really have any
dialogue, which is always fun for a director, because you try to tell the story through the pictures. That was really a challenge."

7: "Describe the nature of your sexual relationship with Lt. Paris?"
Torres: "Ok, that's it!"

Janeway: "How will you feel with only the Doctor as company?"
7: "I will adapt."

"As you pointed out I'm not human nor Borg!"

"Come one Tom, sleepy time [..] Should we replicate you a teddybear?"

"Leave it to Mr. Paris to be as much trouble [in stasis] as he is awake."

Doc: "If you had even the slightest sense of humor you'd realise I was making a small joke."
7: "Very small."

Doc: "I think you need a fresh-up course in how to get along with people!"
7: "There's noone here to get along with."

"Don't panic it's counterproductive."

Doc: "Seven, are you... frightened?"
7: "I am Borg."

"I am 7 of 9. I am alone, but I will adapt."

"Food and mystery don't go together, I'd like to know what I'm eating!"
