Voyager blir attackerad av skepp som bara vill sno teknologi och material, och dom lyckas oxå. Men Janeway ger sig såklart inte utan
ger sig av i jakt på dom, men dom har oxå snott Docs mobila hologenerator. När dom kommer till planeten hittar dom... Leonardo,
som tror han befinner sig i "nya världen" - Amerika.
Bad guyen i sammanhanget är regenten över en provins, han har aktiverat Leonardo programmet i Docs holoemitter och satt igång honom
på att jobba på nya uppfinningar. Han har deras dator och allt som stulits och dom börjar jobba på att få tillbaka den. Janeway och
Leonardo ger sig av för att hitta den. Dom hittar den och lyckas beama upp den till Voyager, men dom stöter på problem och dom tvingas flyga därifrån i en DaVincis grymmaste uppfinningar - hans flygplan.
Väl i luften lyckas Voyager få en transporter signal på dom och beamar upp dom. The end.

Joe Menosky:
"I hated this episode despite the fact that I wrote it. This is when the collaborative process collapses. Jimmy Diggs came in and he pitched something that had to do with the Doctor's portable emitter and a character getting away with it. Because we had liked da Vinci in 'Scorpion', when Brannon was listening to Jimmy's pitch, he just thought this is a cool way to get da Vinci off the ship and have an adventure. The way we work collaboratively in a situation like that, where there is no real story except 'da Vinci's day out', we'll sit around and talk about it, all of us as a staff.
What could we do here? I had massive disagreements every step of the way with how this story should go, and I lost the argument every step of the way. Somebody in the room said, 'How does he get off the ship?' I said 'That's irrelevant. It doesn't matter how he gets off the ship. That's like a one page or two lines of tech dialogue that you brush off, and your on to the adventure'.
I lost that argument. Everybody said it does matter how he gets off the ship. So we came up with this unbelievably tortured tech story for how you get the mobile emitter off the ship. My phras was, the tech tail wags the TREK dog. You had a ludicrous tech story that took over and got out of control and drove the rest of the story in utterlu the wrong direction. I couldn't argue my way out of it.
The one thing I'm happy about is that I do know late 15th century iItaly and da Vinci's life really well, so that every one of his statements is how a late 15th centure Renaissance Italian would interpret an alien world. At least I got that right."

DaVinci programmet från "Scorpion" återkommer uppenbarligen, men för sista gången. Författarna var även nog med även denna gång inte
jämföra Voyagers dator med dagens datorer genom att använda andra mått och enheter, _förutom_ att den klarar 575 trillioner bipns.
Voyager borde egentligen ha jobbat på ett sätt att skydda sig från "translocators" eftersom skeppet blev erövrat tidigare i VOY:"Displaced".

Handelsplatsen från det tidigare avsnittet ("Random Thoughts") står visst klar, även fast Biller inte var nöjd med det.
Skådisen bakom 'Tau', John Vagras, spelade 'Jedda' i Star Trek II: TWoK.
'Theseus', som da Vinci nämner i intro lite snabbt, var en hjälte i grekisk mytologi, antika Athens nationalhero. Han dödade en del monster i sin tid, bland annat monstret Minotaurus som var infångad i labyrinten som Minos lät Daidolos bygga.

DaVinci: "Have you been to France?"
Janeway: "Not recently."

Janeway: "Fire at will."
Tuvok: "I have the will, but not the means."
